Basil Hamburgers Recipe

?There is no one definitive recipe for basil hamburgers. However, many recipes for this dish call for adding chopped basil to the ground beef mixture before cooking the burgers. Other possible ingredients include garlic, onion, bread crumbs, and Parmesan cheese.

 1 lb ( 500 g) ground beef
 1 small onion, finely chopped
 ¼ cup ( 50 mL) fresh basil leaves, finely chopped
 ½ tsp ( 2 mL) salt
 ¼ tsp ( 1 mL) ground black pepper
 ¼ tsp ( 1 mL) Tabasco
 4 hamburger buns

1. Oil grill and preheat barbecue. Place beef in a large mixing bowl. Add onion, basil and seasonings. Work meat with a fork or your hands until well mixed. Form into 4 burgers, about 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick. Place on barbecue and grill until done as you like, about 7 to 8 minutes per side for medium-well.
