Julia’S Hungarian Poppy Seed Cookies Recipe

1 cup poppy seeds1 cup butter1 cup sugar2 eggs1 teaspoon baking powder1/2 teaspoon salt1/2 teaspoon vanilla2 cups flourCream the butter and sugar, then add the eggs and vanilla. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, then mix in the poppy seeds. Refrigerate the dough for at least an hour, then preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Roll the dough into balls and flatten them slightly on the baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes.

 ¼ ts nutmeg
 1 c poppy seeds
 1 c butter
 1 1/2 c unbleached flour
 ½ ts lemon rind or extract
 1 ts baking soda
 ½ c maple syrup

Heat milk over medium heat, but do not boil.

Stir in poppy seeds; setaside.

Combine flour, baking soda and nutmeg.

Cream together butter,lemon and maple syrup.

Gradually stir in dry ingredients.

Next, add poppy seed/milk mixture and blend thoroughly.

Dropby teaspoonsful onto unoiled cookie sheets and bake at 350 degrees for15-20 minutes.
