Mom’S Sugar Cookies Recipe

1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened1 cup sugar2 large eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract2 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking powder1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon saltIn a large bowl, cream butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then stir in vanilla. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to butter mixture, mixing until just blended.Divide dough in half. Wrap each half in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour (or up to 2 days).Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.Roll out dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4-inch thickness. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters. Place cookies on prepared baking sheet. Bake until golden brown, about 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
