Onion squares are a type of savory pastry that is made with a dough that is similar to that of a biscuit or a scone. The dough is made with flour, salt, butter, and milk, and it is rolled out into a flat sheet. Once the dough is rolled out, it is then cut into small squares. These squares are then placed onto a baking sheet and baked until they are golden brown. Once they are baked, they are then topped with an onion mixture that is made with onions, butter, and bread crumbs.

 1 ea Onion,sliced
 1 1/2 ts Baking powder
 ½ c Non-fat yogurt
 3 tb Canola oil
 ¼ ts Dill weed
 ½ c Skim milk
 ¼ ts Lite salt or less or none
 1 ea Egg white
 ½ c Flour
 1 pk Frozen corn,thawed,10 oz.
 ½ c Cornmeal
 2 dr Tabasco sauce
 1 ts Sugar
 2 tb Parmesan,grated

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.

Saute onion slices in nonstick fry pan untilsoft and lightly browned.

Add yogurt, dill weed and lite salt.

In aseparate bowl combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder,oil, skim milkand egg white.

Mix well.

Add corn and Tabasco.

Pour batter into lightlyoiled 9 inch square pan.

Spread oniopn mixture over batter.

SprinkleParmesan over onions.

Bake for 25-39 minutes.

Cut into squares to serve.
