?This recipe is for a burger that is topped with avocado, tomato, and crispy bacon. The avocado and tomato give the burger a fresh flavor, while the bacon adds a nice crunch.

 1 lb (500 g) ground beef
 1 egg, lightly beaten
 ¼ cup (50 mL) salsa
 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) grated cheddar or packaged grated cheese, such as mozzarella-cheddar mix
 ¼ tsp (1 mL) each of salt and freshly ground black pepper

Grease grill and preheat barbecue to medium-high. In a medium-size bowl, mix beef with egg, salsa, cheese, salt and pepper just until combined. Shape into 4 burgers. Place burgers on grill and barbecue until thoroughly cooked through and no pink remains in centre, at least 5 to 6 min. per side. Makes 4 burgers
