Sugared Walnuts Recipe

Sugared walnuts are a sweet and crunchy treat that make a great addition to any party or holiday gathering. They are also a simple and delicious way to add some extra flavor and crunch to your favorite salad or main dish. To make sugared walnuts, simply coat walnut halves in a mixture of sugar and water, then bake them in a preheated oven until the sugar is melted and the walnuts are toasted.

 2 c walnut halves, raw
 1 c peanut oil
 1 tb sugar

Blanch walnut halves for 30 seconds; drain.

While still slightlydamp, dredge nuts in sugar.

Spread them out to dry.

Heat oil in wokto about 200 degrees, or until a test walnut browns in about 30seconds.

If walnut is too dark, oil is too hot.

Deep-fry nuts, 1/2cup at a time.

Sugar will melt and form a thin, hard outer shell.
