Tamale pie is a dish made with a cornmeal crust and a filling of meat, beans, and vegetables. It is baked in a pie dish and can be served with a variety of toppings, such as cheese, sour cream, or salsa.

 2 lb Ground Beef
 ½ ts Salt
 12 oz Tomatoes
 ½ ts Pepper
 1 ea Med. Onion, Chopped
 ½ ts Oregano
 1 ea Clove Garlic, Chopped
 3 1/2 oz (1/2 7oz can) Green Chilies

TOPPING1 cGrated Mild Cheese2 tb Oil1/2 cCornmeal2 ts Sugar (Optional)1/2 cUnbleached Flour1/2 cMilk1 ts Baking powder1 xOther Half Green Chilies1 xDash Salt Brown meat in skillet.

Add remainging ingredients and simmer 20 minutes.

Pour into a 4-qt casserole.

Top with cheese.

Mix rest of ingredientstogether and pour over the top of meat and cheese.

Bake at 375 degrees F.
