?Whole wheat waffles are a type of waffle that uses whole wheat flour as the main ingredient. They are usually denser and more filling than regular waffles, and often have a nuttier flavor.

 1 1/3 c Whole wheat flour
 ¾ ts Salt
 2 ts Baking powder
 2 tb Sugar
 1 c Milk
 4 tb Melted shortening
 2 Eggs

Beat egg yolks well;p add milk and shortening. Combine salt, sugar, and flour. Add to first mixture. Beat until smooth. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Sift baking powder lightly over the mixture and fold in quickly. Bake in hot waffle iron.
