Aniseed Cookies Recipe

Ingredients:1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, at room temperature1 cup granulated sugar2 large eggs1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract2 cups all-purpose flour1 teaspoon baking powder1/2 teaspoon baking soda1/2 teaspoon salt1 tablespoon aniseedDirections:1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.2. In the bowl of your electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar on medium speed until creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, and the vanilla extract. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just blended. Stir in the aniseed.3. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until golden brown. Cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes; transfer cookies to a wire rack to cool completely.

Grease and flour baking sheets.

Beat egg yolks, powdered sugar and salt ina large bowl until pale and creamy.

Beat egg whites until very stiff; foldinto egg yolk mixture.

Sift flour, baking powder and aniseed onto eggmixture; fold in quickly but thoroughly.

Fill a pastry bag fitted with aplain nozzle with cookie mixture.

Pipe in small rounds onto prepared bakingsheets.

Let stand overnight to dry out.

Preheat oven to 325øF .

Bakecookies 20 minutes.

Cool on rack.
