There is no one definitive recipe for home-made pretzels. However, most recipes will call for some combination of flour, water, salt, yeast, and baking soda. The dough is typically boiled for a short time in water before being baked.
Mix yeast and sugar with 1/4 c water.
Set aside until bubbly.
Place flourand yeast mixture into a mixing bowl and blend to form a dough.
Knead on afloured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
Place in agreased bowl, cover, let rise 1-1 1/2 hours.
Punch down and shape thepretzels as follows: Divide dough into 12 pieces and shape into sticks 6inches long.

Place on greased cookie sheets.

Glaze with 1 egg beaten with 1 T of water.
